Who Are We?

Step One is an independent advice agency working in the heart of Peterborough. We were formed 21 years ago, a service dedicated to assisting Peterboroughs most disadvantaged members of the community. Over the last 20 years we have grown into one of Peterboroughs most respected advice agencies, offering impartial, confidentail and free advice on specialist levels which include debt advice, employment and welfare law and career training advice.
We are funded by the Legal Services Commision and work with major agencies throughout the city to provide casework and tribunal representation. We were the first non-profit agency to be awarded a legal contract in Peterborough.
Our advisors and admin staff are proffesional and approachable, they are the reason we are so successful and have gained incredible results in tribunal appeals and gaining benefits for our clients.

Who Can We Help?

Who can access our services? Our service is open to all members of the general public. If we are not able to assist you with your case, we will be able to refer you to another appropriate agency. We operate a drop in service for Welfare Rights. Debt, C.V and Employment are by appointment only.
Language Translators - We are able to assist in Urdu, Punjabi and Italian.
Disabled Services - We have disabled access via a ramp, however we do not have disabled toilet facilities.
